WWE Championship: Buddy Rogers

Again, I am going to be testing a new feature here at Smarking Out. Yesterday I brought you the Royal Rumble profile and now I am going to be ranking title reigns of the WWE wrestlers. I will be starting with the WWE Championship. Earlier title reigns will not have as much information because it is more difficult to find. I will rank their title reigns on the following criteria:

Strength: Was the wrestler shown to look strong during their title reign, or were they merely a transitional champion.

Length: Did the title reign last a significant amount of time?

Opponents: Were the challengers for the championship worthwhile or were they people that you
knew the champion was going to beat the challenger?

Matches: Were the matches fun to watch and lasted a significant amount of time.

Buddy Rogers: April 25, 1963-May 17, 1963

Strength: Buddy Rogers did not have a very strong title reign for being the first ever WWWF Champion. His reign was cut short because of a mild heart attack. Score: 2/10

Length: His reign only lasted a total of 22 days before he lost the belt to Bruno Sammartino. Score: 1/10

Opponents: Buddy Rogers "won" the belt from Antonio Rocca, but that match never actually took place and was just announced from Washington D.C. He did face off against Bruno  Sammartino, but the match did not last very long. Score: 2/10

Matches: His title win was fictional and his match against Sammartino only lasted 48 seconds.  Score: 1/10

Overall: Sammartino did not have a very strong title reign for being the first ever WWWF Champion. This could all fall back on the reasoning that at the start of his reign he did have a mild heart attack. Final Score: 6/40=15% F
